Window Decals

What Are Window Decals?

Window decals are similar to wall ones, but there are differences between them. Wall decals are dense and one-sided, and window stickers can be both transparent and translucent so that the image can be clearly seen from both the room and the street.

Some window decals are only window decorations, others combine decorative and protective functions. Such a decal cannot strengthen the glass so that it cannot be broken, but protection from prying eyes (which is especially valuable if the apartment is on the first floor) or from the sun can be organized in this way.

What are window decals?

A window decal or a sticker is a thin film with an image that has an adhesive backing covered with a protective layer. Decals can be small – to represent elements of a larger picture. For example, individual butterflies flying over flowers, birds, snowflakes, figurines, etc. In fact, these are application decals. The decal can also take up a significant portion of the window glass – half or even the whole.

An important note: if a wall decal (with careful use) can be re-glued to another place, then it will not work with its window counterpart. The window decal is disposable – after you want to change the window decor and remove the film, you will have to say goodbye to it. But since the prices for this type of decor are low, there is nothing to regret.

You can replace the decal from time to time to refresh the interior. If the decor on your window turned out to be successful, and there is no need to replace it, it will serve you for 3-4 years. Periodic wiping with a damp cloth will not affect the image at all.

How to apply a window decal?

  1. We clean the glass from dirt/dust. Then wait for it to dry;
  2. Remove the protective film from the adhesive layer;
  3. Apply the decal to the glass;
  4. Straighten it with a soft cloth.

If you are decorating the window with a large decal, do not apply it alone, find an assistant. Do not allow the sticker to wrap up so that its parts come into contact with the adhesive layer.

It is important that the decal “sits” on the glass tightly – there should be no air bubbles under it, which can provoke peeling off. Although high-quality window decals have a strong adhesive layer, as a result of which they adhere to the glass so that it is a problem to peel off the film. When applying the decal, make sure that no creases or wrinkles form on the surface – this can make the image inaccurate.
